Hey bloggers toady's acivity is about Jean batten and Amelia Earhart .
If you don't know who they are Jean batten was the first woman to fly a plane.
She was born in New Zealand, Rotorua in 1909 and in the 1930s she made several world record-breaking solo flights (on her own) across the world. She flew from England to New Zealand on her OWN wow! And Amelia Earhart also flew planes  In fact, she was the first female to fly a plane on her own across the Atlantic Ocean.
Sadly both women died. Jean Batten was bitten by a dog and it got
infected she sadly died on 22nd of November 1982. How ever Amelia Earhart when missing on a plane flight and she was presumed dead.

Here is a Venn Diagram on Jean and Amelia.

SLJ Week One

Hey Bloggers today the SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) starts.
Day one's task is on explorers!

People from he pasific have always been great explorers and navigators. Somehow they manage to survie. They manage to eat and drink water. Where do they store it?

One master navigator is

We are told by SLJ
"For this activity, make a list of ten food items that you could take with you. Please think carefully about what you will take as you won’t have access to a refrigerator or freezer while at sea. Please explain why you would select each item. On your blog, post your list of 10 food items you would take on an ocean voyage and the reasons why you chose these items.

Here is a list of my ten foods

1. Caned bake beans because it doesn't go of easily
2. Fish bait and a Fishing rod so I can fish even if I have to eat fish raw
3. Fruit because I keeps me healthy and strong!
4. Canned spaghetti because that also doesn't go of
5. Nuts like cashews, peanuts and pistachios because they can be eaten easily
6. Vege because I keeps me healthy and strong!
7. Some lolies because you need sugar sometimes (not all the time though)
8. Bread (I would keep it air tight so it doesn't go stale)
9. Honey, Jam and butter to put on the bread.
10. Lots of Water (its not a food but I will need it)

SLJ Teaser Week!

Hey bloggers,
It's nearing the end of the year and Megan, a lady from SLJ or Summer Learning Journey came and talked to us about it. This year the prize for doing the most blogging is a... tablet! There are also lots of other prizes from bags to headphones and speakers.d

For the teaser week activity I picked an activity on Donald Trump.

The SLJ site says...
For this activity, let’s imagine that Donald Trump called you up and asked for your opinion on this controversial issue.
On your blog, please tell us what you think about his plan to build a wall between the USA and Mexico. Is it a good idea or a bad idea? Why do you think so?
I think a wall between USA and Mexico is a very BAD idea. Why would you want to stop others from coming into your country. Another thing that I disagree with is the fact that he wants Mexico to PAY for the wall. Why Mexico? I think all immigrants should be able to live in America no matter wha Donald Trump says!
If you would like to see my friend Toby's opinion on this here is his blog link: wpstobysi.blogspot.com
Tell me in the comments what you think about the wall.

Athletics Zones!

Athletics Zones!

Hello bloggers on Tuesday the 26th of November my school went to Athletics Zones. It was a really big day and I had lots of fun. The Zones day was held at Three kings Reserve I did 400m,100m,75m,Shot-put and long jump. I did really well in Long Jump and Shot-put (sadly the People doing long jump did not tell us how far we jumped). And when it came to running I was so slow compared to everyone else they were so fast! My friend Toby competed in high jump and he thought he had a chance but at the end people were jumping 1.25 but he still managed to get 1.10 and my other friend Torian got 1.15 which was great because it was so hard. In the event there were 9 schools competing.

At the end of the day we had the group relays. And this was the best part. We didn't have enough time to do heats semis and finals so we did races based on time. First went the Junior girls who did an awesome job then the Junior Boys and then the Senoir Girls and finally Us the Seinor Boys at the end of the day we were all extremly tierd but the quior had to do there prefomance that same night!

If you would like to check out Toby and Torinas blog heres the link http://wpstobysi.blogspot.com/

Athletics Day!

Athletics Day 2019!

Hey bloggers when did you guys do Athletics? Well Waikowhai Primary School had there Athletics day on the 19 of November, Tuesday and we all had a blast. We had to do a series of events including High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Sprints, 400 and 200 meatier dash and lots of other smaller actives. Everyone is in one of the four house groups which are Kea, Ruru, Pukeko and Tui I am in Kea and at the end of the day we have a big house relays. This Year Kea won 2 of the races we won the 2 senior races which are the most important in my opinion. It was an awesome day and I think did really well. For High Jump my favourite activity I made 1.11 which was really annoying because I have made 1.16 before but my friend got into zones an I am happy for him. I also made it into zones for lots of things like shot put and sprints which I am really exited for. I can't wait for Athletic Zones and maybe I might meet some other bloggers there.

Vector Epro8 Semifinals!

Welcome back bloggers!
About 3 moths ago me and 3 of my class mates went to the heats of the Epro8. The Epro8 Competition is a engineering Competition for a group of four that compete against other teams by building structures. In the heats my group (Me Toby, Jaimie and Angelina) made a Rat Wheel and when the wheel spun it made electricity for the house. This got us enough points to get to the Semifinals.
In the semifinals the challengers were lots harder and took ages. In the Semifinals our judge Andrew or other wise called Your Majesty was very rough and he broke two of our parts that we needed that was very annoying thankfully he replaced them. In the Semifinals we made a conveyor belt that transported bananas. Sadly we did not make it to the Grand finals in the end we cam 6th place. The 3 teams that went through were called The Dream team, Gladstone Gear Heads and Steaming Wires. It was a really fun day and I can't wait to do the intermediate one.

Kid Bots

Hey bloggers! This week we have been programing a bot around a page. This meant we had to get our bot from one square to the other. First we did it with a buddy then we had to make a google drawing on it. I picked Frodo from the movie Lord of the Rings. I told my friend/ buddy to get the ring and take it to he mountiain and drop it in. To complete the test you had to use arrows to guide your bot safely though its missson. If you would like to try to complete my challenge just comment what you think. Here is my google drawing:

Rugby World Cup

Hey Bloggers, have any of you been watching the Rugby?

Well...in Te Waka Ako the RWC (Rugby World Cup) has been one of our main focuses. We have had a slideshow to complete during the weeks that our teachers have been testing students individually. The tasks included were things like, finding last names of All Blacks in a crossword or making fact sheets on mountains in Japan. My favourite task was learning Japanese because now I say no in Japanese (Bangō) and yes (Hai). One thing I learnt was that Mt Fuji in Japan was actually in the movie Pacific Rim Uprising. If you would like to see my slide show it is down below. If you want, add a comment on who you think will win the Rugby World Cup!

Futsal!

Hey Bloggers this term we are learning a sport called futsal (foot-sol). Futsal is indoor Football played on a hard floor. It was really fun because I play normal Football and versing the kids in my class was very fun. First we did juggling and I got my over all record 45. When we finished that we went in our hall and played numbers. Numbers is a game where our coaches Kingsley and Leon gave us a number from 1 to 12 and when he called our number we had to run in and try to score a goal against the other person with that number. I asked if me and my friend could be the same number so we could 1v1 each other and show off our skills which was fun. I won all three games I played against him and then he quite and asked if he could switch with my other friend JD. JD almost won but I scored in the last 3 seconds. If you have the chance to play this game do it. IT'S AWESOME.

Choir Rehersal with the A sides

Choir Rehersal

Hey bloggers last week Thursday we had a Choir Rehersal. For the past few months we have had rehersals at differnt schools learning the songs for our big preformance at the Town hall in the city but we only rehersed with our side. We are split up into sides and each side sings differnt parts of the song. Our rehersal this time was at Waikowhai intermidiate and the two sides were mixed together. It was by far my FAVOURITE rehersal we have had yet. My Favourite song we sung was les miserables. It was a bit long and a bit boring at times but thats because learning songs can be hard. I am looking forward to the next one. If you are one of the 400+ kids that went add a coment a tell me what you thought of it.

Cross Country!

On Wednesday 11th of September our school Waikowhai Primary did Cross Country! I was an epic day and we all had a lot of fun. The best part of this years Cross Country was the fact that it was a fun run. We had fundraised for 2 months making 14 thousand dollars. Our fundraising goes towards a canopy for our school. So on the day we had a lot of different activites that spell SKOR standing for Skiping, Kicking, Obstacle course and the Run. I was a leader so I went around with all the year 5 kids helping them get SKOR. My fav part was when I was into the last hunderd metres of the run and me and my friend Torian started sprinting down the finsh line. He still won :(  It was a great day full of fun. If you have a school fun run you will probally have as much fun as I did (LOTS).

School Camp!

School Camp!

As I woke up on tuesday excitement flowing through my body I got ready as fast as I could and zoomed up to school...

Hey bloggers last week was our school camp and I was probly the most fun thing I could have done in my life like how many schools get to go to Mt Ruapehu? Well our school did and we all had a blast.

On the day of camp we had to get to school at 7:30 and meet our group color in the junior block. By this time my heart was pounding and I was extremly excited. Then in front of all the seniors eyes two big buses pulled up at school we were ready to leave. We boarded our buses in our group color and started our jurney. Our first stop was the Hamilton Gardens, we all had fun looking at the differnt gardens my favoruite garden was the Chinese Garden because it had a cool pond with goldfish in it. We had a lot of stops on our way but my fav was still the gardens. The bus trip took us 9 and a 1/2 hours but we all made it safely to the Crossing Lodge.

The days at the Crossing backpackers were cool we had a games room to play table tenis and things like that. There was also a really cool movie room to get to it you had to open a wardrobe and walk inside then you would find a big TV.

The time we had on the mountain was even better we skied and snowboarded that was fun. The best part was when my group leader (Donald) took us up the mountain and to a jump and then I jumped of it and got a heap of air once I landed it I manged to continue down the mountain.

I think if your a Middle student and camp is coming up for you in two years you shouldn't waste a second in signing the form to say you are going because it is the best experiance you could have ever! It might sound like a lot of money but really after all the fundrasing it isn't much.

Here are some photos of us on camp.

Camp Feelings!

Hey bloggers

Tomorrow is camp!

And a lot of the Senoir kids are very exited like me but we also have differnt feelings for instance  I am a little scared because I have gone skiing three times and been on the mountain to go tobogganing once before but I have never gone skiing on the mountain. I'm not so scared about the skiing part because it's really easy i'm scared about the dangers like rocks or avalances. One thing that will really push me to my limits is the gondalas. I went to Rotorua and went on a gondola when I went to the luge. It's really scary when it stops half way up the mountain and you feel like it's going to fall.  One thing that I will gain from going on camp is making stonger friendships not with my good frineds but with the whole Syndicate.

After camp I think I will feel very relevied because I am not hurt I will also be happy because I will be reunited with my family.

Holiday Narratives

Hey there bloggers!
This term we have been writing narratives about our holidays. We sort of did a recount but we exaggerated it and turned it into a narrative. At first we did a plan in our books using a mountain. The bottom of the mountai]n was your starting sentence then a little up the montian was a promlom then at the top of the mountain was the climax (the worst part of the problem). After the climax there was the resolution(a little down the mountain) the part where you fix your problem. And lastly there was the ending. I really liked doing these naratives because I could use my imagonation to create something that I worth reading. unlike recounts everyone thinks there boring.

Here is a bit of my story

Then suddenly they disappeared and I was falling into blackness.  For a second I thought I had died, but then whenever I thought of something….. it appeared!! Then I realised where I was, I was in my own IMAGINATION! It was so fun.Click to continue my narrative.

Have fun reading! Blog U later

Basketball Zones

One week ago on the 1st of August me and 9 other senior school students went to Basketball Zones. It was a lot of fun and we did very well. We won 4 lost 3 and drew 1. There where 9 schools there including us the schools were Waikowahi, May Road teams 1 & 2, Christ the King, Three Kings teams 1&2, M.P.L.S, Hillsborough and Halsey Drive. It was a very energectic day and at the end we were all very tired. The event was held at Trust Staidum in Henderson. Sport Auckland sponsored the Event and ABSL Auckland Basketball Services Limited organised the event.

One highlight was when I blocked this kid from Hillsborough and took it down a scored. Then in the second half I got ankle broke by the him. That was very funny. I also made a few friends on other teams this was cool but then they won because I wasn't focused on the game I was to busy talking to my new friend.

Here are some photos of the day.

Climate Change March

Climate Change March.

On the 24th of May there was another Climate Change march. This time the whole of the senior syndicate went. This was very fun as everyone of the seniors got to experience a march. We all made signs to march with, mine said I want a hot date loaf not a hot planet that was what our main sign said but we had lots of little signs stapled on to our piece of wood. The march was at Aotea Square and there was a lot of people marching. We marched down Queen Street and we did a lie-in where we lie down on the road for 1-2 minutes to make traffic. We
successfully shutdown Queen Street for 1 hour and 5 minutes. After the march was finished I went straight home while the school went back on a school bus. It was a very fun day and I hope to do a third one.

Term two Sbs's

Hey Bloggers welcome back. How's term three going? I know it's term three but I'm going back to term two when we had novels. My novel was called Bow Down Shadrach. The book is about an old circus trained horse named Shadrach and a girl of imagination named Hanna. Joe and Sophie ( Hanna's parents) brought Shadrach soon after they got married. Then Shadrach got sold to a dog food factory but when Hanna found out she went to the factory to get Shadrach back.

I though this book was awesome and I loved it. I like how the main chaacter was a girl and I like haw she was so feisty. she has very deep feelings about Shadrach and I was cool when she made a plan to get him back.

After reading the book we had to do comprehension questions about the book and had  an activity as well. I will put links to the Questions and my activity on a photo below.

I really like this book and recomend that if you bloggers have a chance to read it do it .

Vegetable Smack Down

The Vegetable Smack Down
Hey there bloggers!
Over the last month we have been studying one type of fruit.
Our fruit is a Kiwano. A Kiwano is a spiky looking fruit that tastes like a grape for about ten seconds then it just tastes like nothing. First we had to walk around our class and right down all the vegetables and fruit you know. Then you chose one fruit to find out information. We did this for about two or three days then we sort of left it UNTIL...
The teachers told us where doing a smack down. know one knew what that was so the teachers told us. A smack down is where you talk about your fruit or vegetable.
It actually went really well I said what needed to be said and sat down.
This happened to a lot of people they where very nervous but after they started talking they were fine. After everyone was done it was time to go home. I have learned a lot about some fruit and vegetables and would like to do some thing like this again.
Down below is my Kiwano doc have a look and comment anything you learned.
